Gamification

Serious play for serious change

Strategic Applications of Gamification

Gamification lets you build and improve systems in a variety of ways —from policy and governance to service delivery and community engagement. Because these areas are interconnected, strengthening one benefits others. Lantern can partner with you to use gamification to spark ‘domino effects’ that drive system-wide change through fun and memorable methods that everyone can enjoy.

Policy Design

Our games help policymakers generate ideas, explore options, and collaborate across sectors - leading to faster, smarter policies people understand and support.

Community Engagement

Help communities engage with complex issues. Make policies easier to grasp and enable more meaningful input - building trust, transparency, and stronger support for change.

System Preparedness

Simulations help your systems prepare for real-world stress—revealing strengths, exposing gaps, and offering a safe and approachable way to explore improvements.

Capacity Building

Build confidence and skills through hands-on practice in realistic scenarios. Whether in short workshops or long-term programs, we help teams better navigate complex systems and challenges.

Case Study: Digital Health Law capacity building

Background

The World Health Organization engaged us to design a capacity-building workshop  to help policymakers across the Pacific legislate more effectively in support of Digital Health. The workshop also sought to enhance participants’ ability to navigate the broader policy-making process.

Following an in-depth review of the policy and legal landscape, we identified a set of core learning outcomes that the game-based workshop needed to deliver. Specifically, participants should be able to:

Learning Outcomes Targeted

  1. Distinguish which domains of Health Law are most relevant to Digital Health
  2. Assess the impact of different Law domains on likely health outcomes
  3. Evaluate the impact and feasibility of different legal options and approaches to achieve a policy objective
  4. Manage interconnected political, social, and power influences on legal drafting, passage and implementation.

The game was designed for resource constrained environments, does not rely on digital technologies, and requires no prior training in law, or digital health.

The Power of Gamification

Gamification turns complexity into clarity. In fast-changing systems, games offer a safe space to test ideas, think critically, and work together. They make learning active, interaction meaningful, and decisions more informed. In a nutshell, they can accelerate insight, alignment, and action.
